Triumph Motorcycles has revealed on social media that the new Tiger 1200 adventure tourer will be released on May 24, 2022. The all-new Triumph Tiger 1200 is the company’s flagship ADV model, competing against the Ducati Multistrada V4 and the BMW R 1250 GS. Bookings for the Tiger 1200 began in December of last year, and delivery are expected to start by the end of the month. We’ve had the opportunity to ride the Tiger 1200, so stay tuned for our review on May 24.
The new Triumph Tiger 1200 will be available in four different trim levels and two different variants: GT and Rally. The fuel tanks of the Tiger 1200 GT Pro and Rally Pro are 20 litres, while the Rally Explorer and GT Explorer have bigger 30-litre tanks. The GT model also has 19-inch front and 18-inch rear alloy wheels, making it more road-oriented. The Rally series, on the other hand, features spoked wheels and longer travel suspension with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear setup. The new Tiger 1200 is around 25 kilogrammes lighter than its predecessor.
A 1,160 cc inline three-cylinder engine produces 147 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 130 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a shaft drive system, as well as an assist and slipper clutch. The front Showa USD forks and the rear Showa semi-active monoshock unit are standard on the flagship Tiger. The suspension travel on the GT Pro and GT Rally models is 200 mm, while the suspension travel on the Rally bikes is 220 mm. Brembo’s twin 320 mm floating disc brakes provide excellent braking performance.
Seat height adjustment, numerous riding modes, traction control, cornering ABS, and a 7-inch TFT screen to access all the customization choices are among the other features. The Tiger 1200 is estimated to be priced at around Rs. 20 lakh.
